THE MITCHELL RIVER TAVERN

The Mitchell River Tavern is stooped in a history that spans over 130 years. Established in the 1890’s this historical gem is located at 59 Main Street, Bairnsdale VIC. This spectacular double story Victorian building has had an incredible facelift externally, while internally it is now home to a stunning cocktail bar called ‘The Mitch’.

Recognising an untapped market opportunity, venue manager Anita Hodder envisioned bringing a Melbourne city-worthy bar to the heart of Bairnsdale. Fortunately, Anita's foresight led her to collaborate with Angela Bambino from Peach Interiors, resulting in the creation of a unique space unmatched in the local area and neighbouring towns—a space long yearned for by the locals.

The Mitch is vibrant and dynamic, a stark contrast to the exterior, amplifying its wow factor and captivating customers.

The bespoke bar steals the spotlight, adorned with stunning green handmade fluted tiles complemented by gold metallic accents, a handcrafted timber bulkhead, timber floors, custom-made floor tiles, and stone tops. The back bar, a bespoke bottle display, is crafted entirely from steel and powder-coated in gold. Local trades were engaged for the construction, and the bar is proudly stocked with predominantly local and Australian-made gins, along with an array of other regional spirits, wines, and beers. A place the locals are proud to call their own.
